Start slow when texting a girl for the first time

What does it mean to 'start slow'?

A few things...

1) Start slow with your response time - 

By starting slow you give her time to become more comfortable with you.  If you eagerly message her quickly, she starts to feel a little uneasy because she may worry that you are going to obsess over her and smother her in her life.

Freedom is important to women.  And to men.  To everyone really.

2) Start slow with your feelings

If you are quick to tell a woman how much you like her... it feels inauthentic.  
Think about revealing your feelings to a woman like a fine wine...

The longer you take to open a bottle of wine, the better it tastes when you do.

With women, the longer it takes for you to reveal your feelings to her, the more special she will feel when you finally do.

Think about it: 

If you like her RIGHT AWAY she doesn't really feel that she earned that.  That is why it feels inauthentic.

If she can't figure out whether you like her or not after hanging out with you multiple times...

Then when you finally DO give her a signal that you MIGHT be into her, she gets way more excited because she had to 'earn' your affection instead of you giving it to her way too easily.

THAT is why when you are 'hard to get' it works.
